Pastor Ron's Update (December 2007)
December 2007 (Update, as of 11/30/2007)
Good Morning and Merry Christmas!
As we enter into this glorious Christmas season, I want to thank you all for the wonderful gift of your love, support, prayers and friendship. I am truly grateful! To me and my family, you are angels! Angel means “messenger,” and to me you are all… messengers of hope!
I discovered through this three and a half year battle with cancer that the most powerful experience of hope is not the hope we have for ourselves, but the hope we have for each other. God is the source of hope, but we are the messengers of hope … “angels of hope” in the lives of others. Those original shepherds ran out of the hills and into Bethlehem, not because they had seen something, but because they felt something. And that something was hope! I have hope today because of God, but also because of you. Thank you.
Well, here’s the latest. This morning I received the results of my blood test (from 11/29) and my PSA is still 0.3 confirming last month’s reading, but showing no rise in the level. Praise the Lord! His mercies are new every morning!
As you remember, 0.3 indicates the reoccurrence of cancer at the biological level, but the results of my recent ultra-sound, CT and Bone Scans show no evidence of cancer in my body. So, on December 10th we have an appointment up at UCSF to discuss treatment options. I will write another update on the 11th or 12th to keep you posted on the plan. Until then, I’m going to enjoy the beginnings of the greatest Christmas ever! Tonight, my family will buy a tree, and I will savor each moment as the precious gift that it is!
On Monday, December 3rd, Cathi and I are joining about 30 others from New Life and we’re going to Guatemala on a one week mission trip. We’re excited to be able to go! Please be in prayer for us and the team. I’ll give a brief report in my next update.
Merry Christmas angels! Keep giving people hope!
Romans 15:13 (NIV) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amazingly Graced,
Pastor Ron Salsbury
