Thursday

senseless war

After the heartache surfaced

In her tearful eyes that night
My first yearning, was for the children
Sparking determination to do what’s right

As soon as she fell asleep
I just stared at her and cried
I felt confusion and pain
And very numb inside

First I prayed for strength
Then I prayed for guidance in what to do
I thought of everyone who’ll be affected
And asked God to be their support too.

When morning opened my eyes
I hoped it wasn’t real
I tried to go back to sleep
To avoid the pain I feel

Take time to think
Let your heart have a say
Let go of any anger
It will just get in the way

Why must we fight
When there is absolutely no need
The damage it’s causing
Is enormous indeed

Listening to attorneys
Rather than what’s in your heart
Is a gut wrenching feeling
That tears you apart

Unnecessary sadness
Tampers the world
Of a normally happy spirit,
A loving little girl

What she needs and deserves
We’re now forced to ignore
Since the love that once surrounded her
Has been replaced by a senseless war
