These pics are of Tayli & her friend Ayla as they shop for dresses, shoes and all the accessories needed to produce the perfect Homecoming Attire.
When Tayli was going to Ustach Middle School for 6th, 7th & 8th grade, she had no interest in attending any of the school dances. This was surprising to me, every time I read a bulletin about another dance, I'd ask her if she would be going. Each time she'd tell me, "Mom, dances are for dorks" Then I'd respond with, "Really? I went to all the dances when I was in Middle School." LOL. So now she's in high school and I knew that Homecoming was right around the corner, so I sat back and waited to see how she would respond to the big event that was to come. The first mention of Homecoming was when she came to me with this devestated look on her face and asked, "Mom, how do you turn a guy down without hurting his feelings?" To make a long story short, Tayli received a good handful of invites from boys that apparently had a bit of a crush on her. This made her feel very uncomfortable, so she took matters into her own hands and approached a very good friend of hers named Ethan and asked him if they could go to the dance together just as friends. Now she was able to tell the other boys, "Sorry, but I already have a date."
Now listen to this irony, my mom went to her Dr's appt a couple of weeks ago and the medical assistant on duty happened to be one of my mom's previous salon clients. Her name is Kelsey, so as they're catching up on things, Kelsey mentions that her son is now in high school and he's even going on his first date to the homecoming dance with some girl named Tayli. As my mom's mouth is hanging open, she says to her, "No Way! That's my granddaughter." With Ethan's mom being someone that my mom knows, it relieved a ton of anxiety for me and Kelsey and I have been able to discuss the plans for the "Big Night" and make arrangements for drop off and pick up. Kelsey also asked me if I could be the photographer for the evening, so I'll be going to their house tonight, with Tayli, to take a zillion pictures of the kids before they head off to the dance. So check back tomorrow for Homecoming Part 2 to see the Glamorous pics :)
