September UpdateHello Dear Family and Friends!
Wow! Did summer fly by, or what? I’m thankful for a good summer, and I’m glad to be back! Cathi and I took off for a couple weeks of camping in Yosemite and the Gold Country of Central California. We enjoyed some of God’s most beautiful handiwork, visited some friends, read a couple great books and got some much needed rest. I feel renewed, refreshed, and re-impassioned for our ministry together here on the Central Coast!
Here’s the latest on my health. My latest PSA actually went down a bit! Thank you, Jesus! It went from 1.95 last month, to 1.93 currently. This means it’s pretty much “stabilizing” at this point, which is great. Thank you for your prayers!
As far as the “Dendrite Protocol” that Dr. Carroll suggested to my local doctor, we’re still checking it out. Apparently, it’s a clinical trial and I may or may not be a candidate for it. I’ll keep you posted. All in all, I’m feeling great. I did a lot of hiking on vacation, and, I’m continuing to eat healthy (with occasional treats) and I believe that God is sustaining my life for His purpose. I also believe that God is answering our prayers and I am thankful!
It’s been a great summer in ministry! We baptized 37 people at our last beach baptism at Avilla Beach. Praise the Lord! Our outreach ministries, student and children’s ministries, ongoing Bible Classes, support groups and worship services have been strong with good attendance. Our giving is below an already lean budget, but I believe as we get back into the Fall, we will catch up.
Our prayer focus as a church this summer has resulted in some significant breakthroughs in people’s lives. Our “Prayer Wall” has been a powerful convergence of urgent requests and diligent intercession. Thank you for being a part of it, both sharing your requests and praying for the needs. We want to hear your story of answered prayer! Please email any testimonies of answered prayer. We want to hear from you! I’ve also appreciated the strong messages that our pastors have brought during the weeks that I’ve been gone (I’ve watched online!)

Let me leave you with a challenge. As I’ve been preparing for my message, “How and When the World Will End” on September 19th & 20th, I’ve been gripped once again with a sense of urgency. As I look at world events and what’s going on in our country, I can’t help but think that Jesus is coming back very soon! This makes me want to make all the more sure that we are doing what God wants us to be doing, and that you are ready to meet Him!
I’m sensing in my spirit, as are all of my prayer partners, that we are entering into a very crucial time in our lives together. There is more at stake than any of us realize. The challenges and opportunities will be greater than ever, but God has BIG THINGS for us in the days ahead. Would you please join me in a special season of prayer and fasting from now until Christmas? Let’s pray for breakthrough in our lives and our families, in our churches and our community, in our schools and places of work. Let’s pray against the works of darkness, and for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done.
