Meeting Dr. Thomas

Here's Tay at her most recent Dr's appt. The fact that she's smiling is a real good thing because since January she has been to a variety of dr's and has had a variety of tests done, per Dr. Thompson's request. Some might remember when Tay was seven, she started gettting these horrible rashes that broke out all over her body. Well, she is still experiencing those same rashes, except now they are more severe and sometimes even painful. Without going into detail (at Tay's request), she is also dealing with a good number of other symptoms as well. Quite a few of the tests she has endured, have been procedures that the average person wouldn't need to experience until sometime during their adulthood. She's been very brave. At this particular appointment, we are meeting with Dr. Daniel Thomas, who is a Dr. from the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. With the help of Dr. Thompson, we arranged a visit with him in SLO. In the past, I have often felt that a good number of Dr's don't really take time to understand our illnesses and they usually just rush us in and rush us out. So I was very relieved when Dr. Thomas spent a good amount of time with Tayli, asking her tons of questions. He also showed genuine concern for Tayli when she expressed her frustration with not knowing what's causing all of these symptoms and not being able to treat them correctly. Tayli's next test will take place in L.A. at the Children's Hospital in a couple of weeks. She is having an upper endoscopy and also a colonoscopy done. When Dr. Thomas told us about these two tests, Tayli instantly asked him, "Will I be asleep when you do this?" He answered, "Yes" and then she said, "Oh, then yeah, go ahead" : ) Anyway, please keep her in your prayers and I will report back, regarding this, after she has had the procedures done.
